MCA’s Shortlisted Projects in the Building & Architect of the Year Awards are Delivering Benefits across the 3 Pillars of Sustainability
Three MCA projects have been shortlisted for the 2023 Building & Architect Of The Year Awards, all of which showcase the innovation and success of MCA’s far-reaching commitment to sustainability in the field.
Mullingar Ambulance Base was a project built upon the first of the three pillars of sustainability: ‘People’. MCA designed an efficient and safe hub for ambulance operations, with public health being the key priority at every stage of the design process.
New Century House has been shortlisted in two categories: ‘Building Refurbishment for a Single Building or Development’ and ‘The Sustainability Award for a Single Building or Development’. Only last week we discussed the concept of the most sustainable buildings being those that already exist because of their embodied carbon - ‘Planet’ - and New Century House is an exemplary model of this, proven by its triumph in both the Sustainability and Refurbishment categories. This refurbished Grade A building is now delivering optimal return on investment - ‘Profit’.
The team at MCA Architects works diligently to ideate sustainable solutions and integrate them seamlessly with exemplary design to create truly spectacular structures built for a greener future. The Building & Architect Of The Year Awards’ recognition of the importance of this ethos, and its ramifications, is indicative of the encouraging and necessary shift towards more forward-thinking, and environmentally minded, practices throughout the wider industry.
